Cornflake or Keshi pearls are non-nucleated pearls, meaning they are formed without a bead nucleus. They are a byproduct of pearl cultivation, typically resulting when a pearl oyster discards the nucleus but retains the mantle tissue, allowing the pearl to continue growing without a central shape. This leads to their unique, flat, irregular shapes, often described as resembling cornflakes.
